What are my options?
As a business owner, or a prospective business owner, it's important to consider your various options. There a number of business types, and each of them was created for specific industries (and with advantages and disadvantages). We recommend getting advised about your options, so that you can confidently choose an entity that fits best with your business model.
If you simply start your business, and don't formerly file to create an entity, you'll automatically be considered a sole proprietorship (individual) or a general partnership (if there are two or more of you doing business together). The downside of these "default" entities is that they provide few legal protections and have minimal tax advantages.
To take advantage of the significant benefits of incorporating intentionally, we suggest clicking on an image to learn more about that entity type:
LLC
The simplest entity providing protection and tax advantages.
S Corporation
Increased tax benefits and security for growing companies.
C Corporation
Advanced protection and tax advantages for mature companies.
